World War 2 Stories
Ever wanted to know from victims point of view, what was it like to be in the World War 2? Well in this essay you'll be able to learn two different sides of how it all happen. From two different countries, two different races, two different environments.
The characters in the story are from two different races, which means they experience some of the same treatment, but also some of the different. In america, they treated japanese citizens rudely, since the attack on Pearl Harbor. They were sent to ghettos just like the jews did, and then moved to camps just like the jews. " They were frighten of the Caucasians as Caucasians were of us"( Houston, 605). The jews & japanese people were both treated differently and looked at differently. The jews actually never did anything to the German people, to be treated so badly. Hitler just very much disliked the jews, their for moved to ghettos, then shipped on cattle carts to these concentration camps. The japanese people were shipped on grey hounds( Buses) and also got to stay together as a family, and was fed on the way to camps.
The food in both stories was different, Jews got served a small portion of soup and bread. While the japanese were fed with other things other than soup. Japanese also had a bigger portion of food and it was made better also. But that could be because there was less people at the camps where the japanese people were placed, than the were the jews were placed.
The Jews so often would have a selection done in their barrack. To seperate the weak, sick, or the people they thought should die. " The kapos had orders to kill a certain number of prisoners everyday"(Wisel, I dunno) in the japanese camps people died of natural causes. Such as diseases, old age, illnesses. They was not worked to death, or had to work.
The japanese camps were alot better in many ways. They got paid for the labor they did, even if it wasn't much. They got better food, or more food than the jews were given. They didn't have to worry about dying, or getting " Selected" like the jews did everyday. They looked at japanese people different, for the attack on Pearl harbor, The jewish people didn't do anything to be looked at differently. The japanese living environments while being at the camp were far more better than the ones at the jews camps. japanese people wasn't worked to death, and that wasn't their way for freedom. The jewish people had to work for their freedom, food , breaths. The Japanese camps in america, were beter than the ones in Germany with the jewish people in them.
